Welcome to Desktoptips Photo Editing pages.
There are a great deal of Digital Image Editing programs on the market today, far too many for me to write lessons and tutorials on all of them. I have chosen the three Digital Image Editors on the left for good reasons.
Firstly Adobe Photoshop is most definately the Industry standard when it comes to the Graphic Design business. If you want to get a job as a proffessional in this business odds on your employer will need you to have a good working knowledge of Photoshop.
Photoshop has full support for RGB,CMYK and many other color formats. The quality of its tools and filters are superb and its color management is second to none.

Corel PhotoPaint comes packaged with Corel Draw and is also for sale as a separate package. It is a solid program with RGB, CMYK and other formats. It also has a wide variety of filters and tools .PhotoPaint is good value for money and capable of achieving proffessional results.
The GIMP is a full featured digital photo editing package available for free on the Open Sofware Licence. It really is a great program packed with quality tools and filters. There is now an excellent CMYK Plug in for The GIMP which is great for correcting colors and even creating Duotones. Many of the filters are unique to The GIMP and its worth having this program even if you have PhotoShop.

If you haven't already done so please read my Essential Background Info tutorial and our Color Page these pages go into some detail about Raster or Bitmap Images and color formats such as RGB and CMYK.
